The Stress Factor

What factors into your stress?? For most people it's a mixture of school, work, homework, family, friends, relationships and all of life's little tasks that seem to take up WAYY more time than they ought to. Am I right?

Regardless what it is that factors in, I bet I can guess what factors out-food! This doesn't necessarily mean that you eat lots of food when you're stressed--it could, but it could mean the opposite as well. People often go to extremes when they're under stress-anorexia nervosa and compulsive overeating are two serious examples.

Of course not everyone reacts quite so seriously to stress, but we do all have our comfort foods that we seem to turn to in these "times of need" Women often go to chocolate (YUM!!) and who can blame them!? Mashed potatoes or home cooked meals are often another big "release" from stress.

Presently, school is overwhelmingly stressful! But luckily for us, we only have one more week until our stress factor is relieved! (At least temporarily) So here's my advice, keep working hard for this week and TAKE A BREAK over Thanksgiving! You know you need it!

I Met DAVID ARCHULETA!!

This past Friday I went to the Matt Nathanson concert (if you don't know who he is, look him up! You'll love him) Anyway we were standing not ten feet from the stage and I hear this couple in front of my, obviously in the honeymoon stage of dating, flirting tirelessly. The bf starts teasing the gf, '"David Archuleta" is here!" The girl giggles and comes off a bit ditsy, I mean who would believe that David Archuleta is at this little concert!? Nonetheless, I looked back up to the box and back down, shaking my head at the smitten couple.
Well time passes and whispers mull their way through the crowd, "David Archuleta! Yeah the guy from American Idol, he's in the box!" Suddenly I'm intrigued, I look back up to the box. I realize the same silhouette I saw the first time I gazed up now looks strikingly like David Archuleta-the boy I had watched every week for a season on American Idol. It was a "re-vision."
So I'm a fan, NO SHAME, so my new purpose for that evening was to meet him. Well we hung around after the concert, but the big, black security guard kicked us out with one of those don't-mess-with-me-you-punk-kids look on his face. Still not ready to accept defeat we hung around the front for quite some time.

Well I guess God blesses patients! David Archuleta came down the stairs and right out front! There were probably ten people around and we all got pictures, autographs and a taste of his famously awkward laugh. I was so excited, I called Brooke, "I'm 2 feet from David Archuleta!! David, will you say hi to my friend Brooke!??" I put my phone up to his ear, "ha..ha Hey..Brooke...haha (awkward laugh) this is..David Archuleta..." It was priceless!

So David Archuleta may be shy and awkward, not to mention a foot shorter than me, but seeing him in real life was one of the craziest experiences of my life. I have to look at the pictures repeatedly to make sure I'm not going crazy and dreaming them all up. Each time I look at them I have a "revision"-of American Idol and of that night. It really did happen!

I Have Style

I have style. Do I really need to go on? Probably not, but for the purpose of a more insightful blog, I will. I have my own style in pretty much everything I do, as do most of us. The way I dress, the way I do my hair, the way I write and yes, of course, the way I eat. Heck I've got style for the way I use my time and most definitely the boys I like ;).

While this is a lot of things to have style for, my style for each can be summed up in about one word, "picky." Let me go on in detail for a few of these subjects.

The way I dress-I know what I like and I know what I don't like; I know what stores are my favorite to shop in (Charlotte Russe) and which ones I always steer clear of (Hot Topic). I have my style for the way I shop and even how I wear the clothes that I buy.

The way I do my hair-Yes, like any other girl, I am picky about my hair. I trust very few people to cut or style it and only rely on other people (not myself) in extreme situations-cuts, colors and up dos :) Like they say, when you want something done right, do it yourself.

The way I eat- PEANUT BUTTER makes just about any food more enjoyable.

The boys I like- I won't go into detail (for respect of time), but picky is definitely my style in this. I hope all of you can say the same!
